Sekhukhune Development Agency (SDA) won an accolade during the SALGA Mosses ‘Big Moss’ Maluleke Municipal Awards for achieving an unqualified audit opinion in the 2024/2025 financial year.

The awards were held at the Ranch Resort in Polokwane on February 26. Senzile Maseko, SDA Finance Manager, said the agency will stop at nothing to achieve a clean audit outcome.

Maseko shared, “A clean audit is the best possible outcome for audit, where financial statements are free from material misstatements and there are no significant findings regarding performance or compliance with regulations. It indicates that an organisation’s financial records are credible, transparent and legally compliant.”

Dr Rosa Mdluli, SDA Acting CEO, appreciated the unwavering support and encouragement from Sekhukhune District Municipality Executive Mayor, Minah Bahula.

Bahula lauded the entity for upholding sound governance and financial discipline, describing the success of the SDA as a reflection of capable leadership and institutional maturity.

However, the mayor pointed out that the recognition comes with heightened expectations, calling on the agency to escalate its performance in the new financial year by fully transitioning to in-house preparation and in-house review of Annual Financial Statements, while setting its sight on attaining a clean audit and eliminating any risk of unauthorised expenditure.

The mayor further urged the SDA team to rise to the occasion, ensuring that the next celebration will mark the achievement of a historic clean audit for the district’s economic development arm.
