Ofentse Talane (18) from Ga-Nkoana, Pelangwe Village, has been crowned World Imperial Beauties South Africa Teen Queen.lution of the Olifants River.
The contest was held in Montana, Pretoria, from September 30 until October 3. Talane outshone 12 other contestants in the 16-19 age category, raising Sekhukhune District and Limpopo province’s flags high.
The victory will see the young model representing South Africa in the prestigious pageant in the United States of America from July 21 until 24.
The self-conscious Talane started modelling in 2020. She said modelling helped to boost her confidence and become more comfortable as a teenager.
Talane said she was happy for winning the title. “I am overwhelmed by emotions. I am so excited about the achievement. I am grateful that I represented my province well and going to represent the country in the USA,” the model said.
Talane said winning the pageant meant a lot for her. “I have been doing modelling since 2020 and it feels great to see my hard work paying off,” she said.
She views the achievement, which is her first national title, as a springboard to propel her to the upper echelons of the modelling sector. “This is a building block. My public platform is now wider,” Talane said.
She said participating in the pageant also equipped her with public speaking techniques that will enhance her involvement in youth development initiatives.
Speaking about the journey to the pageant finale, Talane said winning was not in her mind. “This does not mean that I don’t believe in myself. The competition was at the highest level but my hopes were not too high,” she smiled.
Talane attributes the success to her stage presence, confidence and being able to articulate herself in interviews.
She encouraged aspirant young models to prosper despite the challenging circumstances and remain unique.
