In the bustling and deeply cultural province of Limpopo, a fresh wave of Lekompo music is gaining a momentum and a young musician who originates from Mohlaletse is telling local stories and redefining South African rhythms through singing. Lehlogonolo Mangope, a 22 year old upcoming Lekompo musician currently based in Springs fusses soulful lyrics with irresistible beat that gets fans moving.
This energetic artist whose stage name is T.L.T mfana mothagase says he is determined to take the Lekompo genre to greater heights. Growing up, he used to dance and sing to traditional songs but he never imagined himself performing on stages one day “I grew up very fond of culture and I used to dance to some traditional songs but that was a way of enjoying as a young child. As I was growing, I started developing interest in doing poetry in my Sepedi home language and in 2024 there was Indoni competition that I had entered and won. I had performed in Durban in that competition and that was when I actually realised my full potential” He said
T.L.T said that he has been officially singing for about two years however in September 2025 he attempted to write a song along with his friend and surprisingly the song was a hit “ I wrote a song with my friend titled “Lethabo ke happy” that became a major hit in the community of Mohlaletse and surrounding areas and that motivated me to write more songs and take my talent serious. I then wrote the song “Get down” that I posted on various social media platforms and got more likes and views. I was then recognised by Onthatile Phala who’s known as O-Phala, an event organiser who stays in Mohlaletse. He also posted my music and performances on his media pages that got me recognition but I am currently looking to connect with people who might hook me up with big artists and brands”.
For many emerging musicians in Limpopo, the path to wider recognition often begins with community events and that is no foreign to T.L.T as he has already performed at the local places such as Ga Ngoato and Mohlaletse Meets at Mohlaletse park. Although he has written about 6 songs so far he says that the fans must expect more from him and high energy Lekompo guaranteed hits as well as unforgettable performances. In his songs he merely explains how the Bapedi culture is the beauty of it. As the Lekompo genre continues to expand, T.L.T is looking to collaborate with Tribby wa diBhozza and Hitboss to make fans feel more connected
