Optimism following high level Sekhukhune roads meeting

Authorities have expressed confidence that major repairs and upgrades will be done on some of the badly damaged roads in Sekhukhune district following.
The sense of optimism follows a high level meeting convened by Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Ernest Rachoene, attended by the Mayor of Fetakgomo Tubatse Municipality, Eddie Maila, councillors, and officials at the municipal offices in Burgersfort.

The municipality said the meeting placed a strong focus on the state of the D4117, D4176, D4177 and the D4144 roads which it said remain a concern for both residents and businesses.
Among options considered, said the municipality, is to seek private financial assistance to pay for the intended road improvements.
“ Stakeholders further discussed the possibility of introducing a Private Public Partnership (PPP) and strengthening the District Development Model (DDM) as a way to fast-track solutions to the ongoing service delivery challenges.
Local businessman Ntate Morgan Mohlala also joined the engagement, pledging support for collaborative efforts to improve road infrastructure in the area,” said the Fetakgomo Tubatse Municipality in a statement released by acting spokesperson Mahlako Komane.
Komane said engagement was held under government’s commitment to strengthen internal capacity and promote service excellence through programmes such as Operation Tsoga Moshomi and Dikgerekgere Wednesdays which have seen spirited efforts to rollout services with strong visibility as scores of municipal employees, officials and councillors go into communities and attend to problems on the spot them.
The Department of Public Works Roads and Infrastructure is quoted as reiterating that the 7th administration remains dedicated to ensuring that things improve also highlighting its #DiloDiChenchitje” a sepedi slogan meaning the livelihoods of all communities have to change and are changing now.
