Applications for the Makhuduthamaga Youth Fund (MYF), which the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality (MLM) is leading, together with the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), will close on April 30.
This follows the activation roadshows for the funding’s second phase, the recent of which was at Kgaola Mafiri municipal hall in Jane Furse on April 13.
Thomas Mashabela, municipal spokesperson, said the roadshows were conducted to mark the start of a series of engagements intended at empowering the local youth ahead of the closing date of the applications for the funding.
The municipality and the NYDA used the roadshows to avail the necessary information about the funding and enterprise development support.
The second phase of the funding opened at the beginning of April. Mashabela said the roadshows ensured accessibility, provided practical support and guided the youth on the application process.
“The activation roadshows placed a strong emphasis on practical support and accessibility. They equipped young people with the necessary knowledge and guidance to actively participate in the funding application processes and positioned them to benefit from the R3m fund allocated for this initiative in the current phase. Through this approach, the municipality strengthened youth entrepreneurship to contribute to local economic growth,” Mashabela said.
He indicated that the roadshows were conducted across all the municipal clusters. “They offered young people the opportunity to engage directly with officials and improve their chances of accessing funding,” Mashabela said.
