Ngwanakwena celebrates first term excellence

Ngwanakwena Secondary School in Manapyane village outside Marble Hall celebrated academic excellence on Friday, 12 June 2026, by honouring learners and educators who excelled during the first term of the 2026 academic year.

The awards ceremony brought together learners, teachers, parents and members of the School Governing Body (SGB) to recognise hard work and outstanding academic performance in the first term.
The event was sponsored by Dazzling Computers from Groblersdal and KOLOK, based in Polokwane, which donated trophies as well as certificates for those who were recognised. The contributions by the two companies contributions made it possible for the school to recognise and reward its top performers.
Through the “Lend A Hand Campaign”, Dazzling Computers and KOLOK have supported Ngwanakwena Secondary School and other rural schools since 2017 by providing resources as well as motivation to both learners and educators.
According to organisers, the awards are aimed to encourage learners to continue striving for excellence, particularly Grade 12 learners preparing for their final examinations. School leadership said the initiative is also expected to motivate more learners to work hard and help the school reclaim the top position in Tsimanyane Circuit.
The top-performing Grade 8 learners were Regaugetswe Maleswena and Amogelang Mabona, while Bonolo Magatla and Omphile Mohlala shared third position.
In Grade 9, Leon Maleka, Reatlegile Moropyane and Martha Mmela were recognised for their academic achievements. The top achievers in Grade 10 were Promise Mtshaisa, Angel Makgaka and Petunia Mayeyane.
For Grade 11, Lesego Phasha, Tshegofatso Mohlala and Stephen Makinita received recognition for their outstanding performance, while Mmakadi Maabane, Tetelo Makgoale and Toka Thutse emerged as the top-performing Grade 12 learners.
School principal MJ Mochitelo thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
“As a school, we truly need programmes like these because they encourage better performance among both learners and educators,” said Mochitelo.
Dazzling Computers representative Meba Mogodi commended the dedication shown by the school community and praised teachers, learners, parents and the SGB for ensuring that education continues to thrive in rural communities.
KOLOK representative Tumelo Madlanga announced an additional incentive for academic excellence, pledging to donate a laptop to the learner who achieves the best results in the preliminary examinations.
“I believe Ngwanakwena Secondary School is on its way to reclaiming the top spot in Tsimanyane Circuit once again,” said Madlanga.
Bana Ba Sekhukhune Solutions Chairperson Jeffrey Hlabirwa Walker thanked the sponsors for investing in the future of learners and contributing to the development of the school. He also congratulated learners and educators for their commitment to the teaching and learning process.
