Local author, Kamogelo Masoga, has written a book through which she intends to improve relationships between humans and animals.
Her latest book, titled: Jane and Ruby, will officially be released on 30 August. Masoga, from Mmotwaneng Village in Rakgoadi area, previously released two books, Chasing the dream and the Bastard Child.
The writer said Jane and Ruby was inspired by her desire to see people, especially children, having good daily interactions with animals.
“With Jane and Ruby, I aim to teach children the importance of loving, caring, respecting and living happily with animals. I aspire to teach children the value of compassion, empathy and responsibility towards animals, especially dogs. This story is close to my heart because it explores the complexities of human-animal relationships and transformative power of friendships. Through Jane’s journey, I hope to instil a sense of love and appreciation of animals among young readers. They need to understand the importance of treating all living beings with kindness and respect. I believe this book has the potential to touch hearts and change lives. Families will love to have it,” shared Masoga.
Masoga is currently embarking on marketing programme of Jane and Ruby, for it to reach as many audiences as possible.
In the book, Jane’s parents find a lost dog and decide to take it in until the owner shows up. During Ruby’s stay with the family, things take an unexpected turn as Jane does not have an understanding of animals.
Jane strongly believes that animals must not be in the same spaces as human beings. She makes efforts to chase away the dog.
Her parents notice the child’s misunderstanding of the dog and try to intervene in an effort to smoothen the relationship.
Following extensive efforts by the parents, Jane finally sees the compassionate side of Ruby and they start to get along well.
The relationship between the dog and the girl grows stronger and they live in harmony after an incident in which the Ruby saved the child’s father when he was in danger and needing medical attention. To get Jane and Ruby, contact Masoga on WhatsApp number 066 564 6600.
