The South African Police Service Sekhukhune (SAPS) District Operational Visible Policing (Vispol) Team scooped the Team of the Year accolade while SAPS Ohrigstad won the Station of the Year and the Overall Best Station awards during the annual SAPS Provincial Excellence Awards.
Furthermore, Colonel Ngele, Sekhukhune District Detective Coordinator and Sergeant Mashabela of the SAPS Mecklenburg Vispol were among those recognised for their outstanding performances.
Constable TP Mashaku and Constable RN Mathonsi of the SAPS Burgersfort Public Order Policing Unit won the Sportsman of the Year and Sportswoman of the Year decorations respectively.
The prestigious 2025 SAPS Limpopo award ceremony was held at the Ranch Protea Hotel in Polokwane on 11 October.
Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba presided over the ceremony, alongside MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Violet Mathye and the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
Sergeant Maphure Manamela, Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson, said the ceremony aimed to recognise and reward the members for their exceptional service, dedication and unwavering commitment to protecting the people of the province.
Hadebe reminded the members that excellence builds public trust and every officer, from the newest recruit to the highest rank, plays a vital role in strengthening community safety.
Deputy National Commissioner for Policing, Lieutenant General Tebello Mosiliki lauded the recipients of the awards for their exceptional service, describing them as true examples of resilience and dedication.
Mosiliki encouraged the officers to continue striving for excellence in serving the people of Limpopo and the nation at large.
In her key note address, Ramathuba underscored the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and traditional leadership in the ongoing fight against crime.
